The two-day conference gathered numerous experts in the fields of security, political science, law, medicine, energy, and the multidisciplinary concept of discussions justified the expectations of the organizing committee.
The conference consisted of five panels:
- Geopolitical security challenges in light of COVID-19 and the Ukraine crisis,
- Protection of critical infrastructure,

- Pandemics and epidemics,
- Ecology and energy challenges.
The participants were given a chance to hear presentations from prominent experts in the beforementioned fields, as well as to exchange opinions through substantive discussion.
The panellists for the region – from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia, but also the ones originating from the Great Britain, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands and Australia, presented the results of their research and offered functional recommendations for successful overcoming of the problems in subject.
Having in mind the complex circumstances we are currently facing, it is necessary stressing that academic and expert dialog, directed towards solving the existent and prevention of future challenges, is of pivotal importance. With this goal, we continue with organization of international gatherings in the same topic. The next gathering is planned for the following year, to be held in Montenegro.
The organizers of the international conference were the following: Centre for risk analysis and crisis management (CARUK) from Belgrade, Croatian Association for International Studies (HUMS) from Zagreb, Faculty for Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies of the University in Sarajevo, Faculty of Philosophy (Institute for Security, Defence and Peace) of the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, as well as the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (ISS). The informal part of the conference consisted of a cocktail party in Cavtat, lunch in Herceg Novi, as well as the visit to the old town in Kotor. The sun, beautiful landscapes, the sea air, science and experience, paired with good gastronomy and exquisite accommodation in a five-star hotel turned out to be a winning combination in these turbulent times.
